Overview
My client world leading supplier of smart grid and metering technology, is currently looking for a Senior Product Engineer to lead a growing Product Development team tasked with delivering a innovate and exciting range of monitoring solutions for the Smart Grid.Essential skills & experience as a Senior Product Engineer:
- BSc or higher degree in an appropriate engineering discipline
- At least 7 years experience in a company that manufactures medium to high volume, price sensitive products in a high reliability, harsh environment.
- Implementation of product development with an off-shore manufacturer; knowledge of lean manufacturing would be an advantage
- Quality management, ideally 6 Sigma, ISO9001-2008 and Tick-It
- Oversight of product development and internal/external type testing including field trials
- Management of a product through regulatory approvals
Nice to have:
- Working with products that include a high percentage of manual assembly
- Managing product evolution driven by customer complaints, or field issues
- Process flow design experience
Role & responsibilities as a Senior Product Engineer:
1. To manage the product design and development activity, including:
- Planning and managing the product from concept to volume manufacture
- Identify resources required to deliver plan
- Management of external consultants/subcontractors involved in the development of products
- Developing the product strategy for future GridKey developments
2. To work with the Business Manager to prepare product strategy and new product specifications to meet customer requirements.
3. To be responsible for the standards and practices used by the ongoing product development process, fully integrating the total product and process quality mindset into the business whilst managing and driving towards continuous improvement.
4. To manage the Product operations activity, including:
- Returns
- Customer complaints
- Product failure diagnosis
- Product quality improvements and tracking
