Product Design Engineer - Robotics

Based in Taplow, Bucks., the Robosynthesis modular robotic system provides the capability to build virtually any robot,
for a wide range of applications, delivering into Defence, Security, Research and Education markets and beyond.

The Product Design Engineer role will involve working closely with, and complementing, CEO and founder Philip Norman, and
becoming part of a small core team to work on the prototyping through to manufacture of our robotic platform for various
markets, integrating sub-systems with the robot platform, co-developing new IP, liaising with clients and suppliers etc.

The successful candidate will have a creative approach to engineering challenges, good team skills and the ability to
take on projects requiring initiative, discipline and attention to detail.

Job description-

* Working with composites, power-trains, electronics and control software.

* Tooling engineering for all tooling aspects.

* Coordinating prototyping and industrial production.

* New product generation from customer-supplied projects, co-developing new IP.

* Providing direct technical and engineering support for clients.

* Working to build strong functional relationships, both internally and externally.

* Providing feasibility assessments of potential solutions.

* Estimation of piece part cost.

* Obtaining and evaluating competitive tooling quotations.

* Performing analysis and testing on products to verify their functional performance.

* Ensuring all solutions and project-related information is distributed and explained according to Company Process.

* Producing presentable and effective documents.

* Active participation in and appreciation of the commercialisation factors contributing to successful projects.

* Travelling to clients and suppliers to satisfy their product development needs and participating in trade shows -
full driving licence required.

Required:
Pass DVA security clearance.
Degree in an Engineering discipline.
Project management skills and experience at liaising with the client throughout the development phase to volume
manufacture.
Practical, hands-on engineering competence and initiative at problem solving.
Familiarity with Materials Science.
Familiarity with the injection-moulding process.
Familiarity with Design-for-Manufacture and manual assembly.
CAD skills preferably in Solid Edge or Solid Works. Pro E. also acceptable.
