SCOPE:

Associate must be able to set-up and operate a range of manual grinding machines and Inspection equipment in manufacturing department.
Primary machines- Surface & cylindrical, cut off, tool and cutter and wheel trueing.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Time served apprenticeship ideally required, although a good general education and engineering discipline would suffice.
Must be able to use all inspection equipment, read drawings. Computer experience and acute eyesight required for reading dial gauges, drawings, and precision measuring instruments used in the inspection of tools produced.
Good ability to monitor machine sounds to identify and diagnose problems in order to take appropriate action.
Associate is subject to low noise levels, physical hazards from moving equipment and machine parts, breathing fumes, dust, mist, skin exposure to oils and cutting fluids.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

Must be able to maintain product specifications, and inspect all products produced, utilizing the correct measuring devices. Must have knowledge of the specifications of Diamond wheels as well as the ability to properly dress and maintain wheels. Must have knowledge of relevant machines and be able to trouble shoot set up problems.
Must be able to instruct and assist Set up and operator associates on set up and operating functions. Must have full knowledge of all tooling required, routine maintenance, and lubrication of machinery.
Must be aware of Health & Safety procedures, responsible for accurate Data Collection, knowledge of SGS Quality Policy, work procedures and work instructions, identification and segregation of non-conforming material, the ability to use Sampling Plan and Quality Defect codes to report non-conformity material.
The associate may be required to follow other job related instructions and to perform other job-related duties requested. Acts at all times as an ambassador for the business, building and maintaining good relationships with customers, colleagues and managers.
