Factory Services Engineer

The Company is a successful bespoke, niche engineering business with an international reputation for technical capability and customer service and has significant potential for future growth.


Specialising in the design and manufacture of high volume precision progression press tools and components, the Company supplies parts and expertise services to customers from a diverse range of sectors, including telecommunications, plumbing, IT, automotive, white goods, aerospace, medical and healthcare. Over 70% of production is for export and current annual turnover is around £9m from 60 employees, with existing targets of £10 -£12m through to 2010/2011. 

Job Description:

To provide a professional, efficient and cost effective maintenance service to the business to ensure that all service schedules are adhered to; any ad-hoc machinery malfunctions and breakdowns are minimised; and all factory improvements are implemented. To support and maintain a safe and environmentally friendly business.

Repair and, where required, overhaul of Presses and Machine tools;
Management and implementation of all Press and Machine tools preventative maintenance schedules ie liaison with Bruderer for press schedules;
Machine breakdown capabilities:
Electrical & electronic control repair capability;
Pneumatic capability;
Hydraulic capability;
Programme Logic Control (PLC) capability;
Servo motors capability.
Managing cleaning maintenance for cleaning lines & Tool room extractor;
Electric welding, brazing and soldering skills;
Basic fabrication skills: Design and build control panels/ equipment to specific requirements;
Flexibility to cover most Factory and building maintenance tasks.
Security alarms and emergency evacuation responsibilities including setting and resetting of clocking in stations when necessary;
Site Key-holder: occasional out-of-hours call outs;

Health & Safety as well as Environmental responsibilities;
Energy management: record, monitor and reports ie Gas, Electric and Water;
Project management ie for new installations, products and processes and improvements.

Candidate Requirements:

Essential:

  • Electrical qualification – 17th Edition regulations;
  • Mechanical experience;
  • PUWER power press certificate;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Management and administrative experience;
  • Computer literacy ie Microsoft packages;
  • Initiative;
  • Pneumatic, Hydraulic experience;
  • FLT licence;
  • Drivers licence;
  • Audit experience;
  • Flexible attitude to working;
  • Ability to prioritise and manage own work-load;
  • Good Health & Safety background and attitude;
  • At least 5 years in a similar role.

Preferred:

  • Experience of Bruderer Presses;
  • Experience of Toolroom Machine tools;
  • 5s and good-housekeeping experience;
  • Qualified First Aider.
