Database Administrator
A Database Administrator is required to join a leading Financial Services organisation that is at the forefront of payment solutions. The successful role holder will be responsible for the production databases where you will provide both live support and live infrastructure activities around the IT Operation Support service improvement as well as working on delivery of infrastructure and network projects as part of I.T delivery. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced DBA's who are looking to work with cutting edge technical solutions within an organisation that invests heavily within their IT Infrastructure.
This role will include liaison with other technical areas such as Unix System Administration, Middle-ware Support, Application Support and Capacity Management as well as liaison with Service Operations and Service Delivery. In addition liaisons with Infrastructure teams under I.T Infrastructure & Networks will be required.
The successful DBA will: Deliver an outstanding level of Database Administration support across all of the live payment systems, ensuring that systems meet or exceed defined SLAs. Perform database troubleshooting and performance monitoring to ensure that incident issues are resolved effectively and quickly using specific toolsets. Operate effectively with other Operational teams in resolution of problems. Provide Live 2nd and 3rd line operational support activities on a 7 x 24 basis. Work closely and effectively with your team management structure to help guard live service and escalate any issues through the appropriate communication channels. Ensure on-site support to all operation support teams across the various Data Centres. Deliver related activities either in whole or part to enhance live database systems.
Candidates will possess an excellent working experience within a demanding, high availability environment. A comprehensive understanding and knowledge of Oracle10 and 11g in conjunction with RAC and Data Guard will be essential. With this you will have excellent experience of Oracle Enterprise Manager and grid control, Oracle RMAN with backup and recovery processes, have excellent troubleshooting experience within Oracle environments and experience with Oracle reports server. You will have an innovative approach to IT and will be proactive with keeping you technical skills up to date with new developments. Desirable skills include experience of: Oracle ASM, Oracle advance queuing, Performance/tuning experience, Oracle 9 & 10iAS, Shell Scripting, UNIX preferably Solaris, SUN Cluster 3.0 and understanding of ITIL practices.
